Which exact office of Suddath are you dealing with? What is the rep’s name?

Thanks Diane and everyone else for the info—–they are not the lowest quoted—actually 4 or 5 other companies were lower——I’m not in a rush - most of the items are going into storage anyway, but I still don’t want the things driving cross country either. So I will try and firm up a tentative sked and ask the questions that you’ve mentioned.

yeah, I never heard of 3 cars in one truck, unless it was only cars, no furniture……I woulda hired Horseless Carriage or Reliable for that many cars, taken a broker commission, and bumped up the final price to the customer, which would mean more money, and less involvement, but thats just me.

I am by no means an expert on International moving, but I will give my 2 cents anyway.

It seems to me like if you don’t do anything about it, you will probably worry about it anyway. For the low cost of it, you may want to get some of those vacuum pack bags to put your clothes in. It is a relatively inexpensive way to give you great piece of mind.

The international experts will be on to give you their far more valuable opinions.

Yes, most of the boxes were used; however, a couple for large pictures were new and all of the paper appears to be new (it’’s not all wrinkly).

Thank you for the tip. I actually received one more quote, from Suddath, that was consistent with the other two lower quotes and because of the comments on the superlist I hired them to do the move. So far I’ve been pleased. The gave me many boxes and lots of tape and paper to help with my end of the packing - free of charge. The four people that I’ve met so far with the company have been extremely courteous and helpful.

My bad moving experience happened 4.5 years ago when I moved to Florida from Illinois. I’m embarrassed to admit that I do not remember the name of the company because I have moved so many times before. They were several days late with our load and to top it off, once they arrived and opened their truck, the contents within the truck collapsed, making it almost impossible for them to remove items from the truck. Needless to say, almost all of our furniture was damaged in some way. I’m trying to be extra cautious this time around so hopefully the research will pay off.

Did he stack two of the cars? I only did that once, and it was quite nerve-racking. Not so much once they were loaded, but loading and unloading them like that is quite scary. Everything was fine though, but I was still glad I never had to do it again.

Please follow up- they gave you used cartons and paper, correct? Just don’t want people on here to think movers give away new cartons and paper, as those supplies are quite expensive.

There are no reviews on this site about them, which is usually a good thing. Industry expert “Rick” wrote his knowledge about them here.
