Thanks for this review, which I moved to the Superlist. As I read what happened (missing/damaged items), I couldn’t help wondering whether there would have been an outcry about this move if the mover had been Moovers, Inc. rather than a van line agent. I agree with Bill’s remarks, but not being scammed is a pretty low bar, quality-wise.

Cross America Van Lines was to show up on the 1st to move my stuff to LR, according to our contract. On the 5th, they finally showed up, unannounced, to move everything. I sent numerous emails asking for a delivery date with no response except to verify that I sent the deposit.
Cross America Van Lines then began calling my father, demanding $2300 dollars in addition to my deposit, stating that they wouldn’t deliver until it was paid. They stated my possessions weighed more than 5000 lbs. I found out later they only weighed 2600 lbs.
As this was ransom and breaking our contract, we called the feds who then intervened. Cross America left my belongings in their storage unit for me to hire a new company to move it. They also promised the feds to reimburse me.
I hired a new company but they were unable to set a date to pick up my things because Cross America refused to work with them. It got to the point that the movers feared for their safety. We had to again work with the feds to get Cross America to cooperate. 3 weeks after the initial pickup, I finally received my things thanks to the new company.
Cross America then refused to reimburse my deposit. After waiting a week, I filed a complaint on a consumer awareness website and at that point they actually stated to me that they would not pay me back. Cross America Van Lines planned to use my deposit to bribe the website to remove my complaint.
Specifically, the people involved were Jaakov Krii, a guy named D. Thomas, and another named Aaron.

They finished harvesting the potatoes October 31, 2008 (Wilson County News)
They finished harvesting the potatoes across the road from our house on Fir Island. It’s a very big field and it took them a week, working dawn to dusk and into the night — the harvester going slowly down the rows, running potatoes up a moving belt into a heavy truck that follows behind.
